Wetter Puerto de la Cruz, also known as “Watery Port of the Cross,” is a term used to describe the increased rainfall and humidity levels that occur in the coastal town of Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, during the winter months.
This weather pattern is influenced by several factors, including the town’s location on the northern coast of the island, which faces the prevailing northeasterly trade winds, and the presence of the nearby Anaga Mountains, which act as a barrier to the drier air from the south. As a result, Puerto de la Cruz experiences significantly more rainfall than other parts of Tenerife, with an average of over 40 inches per year, making it one of the wettest places in the Canary Islands.
